Slip and Fall Accidents

Slip and Fall Accidents

Experienced Slip and Fall Lawyers

Even the most routine slip and fall accident can leave one with head injuries, serious fractures, contusions or other injuries. In California, a slip and fall victim can bring a claim for damages if the fall was due to a dangerous condition that the property owner failed to correct.

Amicus Legal Group helps victims throughout Southern California get the most compensation for injuries, pain and suffering and lost income. In every case, we work hard to achieve the maximum compensation for clients.

Slip and fall accidents occur when an individual slips, trips, or falls and sustains an injury due to a hazardous or unsafe property condition. Most slip and fall accidents occur as the result of such dangerous conditions as:

  • Broken handrails
  • Broken stairs
  • Poor lighting
  • Slippery or wet floors
  • Torn carpets
  • Obstructed walkways
  • Exposed holes or ditches
  • Falling objects
  • Cracked or uneven pavement
  • Failure to post warning signs

Accident Victim Tips

Watch what you post online. Insurance companies will try and discredit any injuries claimed in the case, and may request your social media usernames as large amounts of information are posted online. Think twice about posting that picture of you on the dance floor weeks after the wedding.

Become an excellent record keeper. You should keep records and notes about even the smallest details which are related to the auto accident and your injuries. Get a copy of the police and accident reports for your records as well. Keep track of all medical appointments, expenses, and mileage so that this information is available if a lawsuit is filed.

Take photos or video of all visible injuries that you may have. This includes any bruising, cuts, scrapes, stitches, or other visible evidence of the injuries that you have sustained. Photos or video footage should also be taken of the car, as well as the accident scene to show the circumstances when the accident happened.

Building a Successful Case

Write down all relevant facts as you remember them and start maintaining a journal regarding your treatment and recovery. Excellent record keeping will make it easier for a claim to be filed, settled, or litigated, if necessary. A list of all medical visits, diagnoses, medications and other expenses, including travel, incurred as a result of the accident should be recorded to help substantiate your out of pocket losses attributable to the accident.

We have extensive experience handling slip and fall cases and are familiar with the legal issues that must be overcome to build the most persuasive case for clients. Amicus Legal Group begins every case with a thorough investigation of the facts to establish liability. Our firm will fully evaluate all avenues of recovery, including lost wages, pain and suffering, medical expenses and out of pocket losses to include when negotiating the best possible settlement in your case.
